For me, the decision on who purchases the meal when I'm asked out is based at least in part on who makes the most money and/or is in the best position to pay the tab.

Most of the men I know make nearly twice what I do, so I'm very comfortable with letting them pay. On the other hand, I do like to return the favor from time to time. You make it sound like a guy is somehow degrading a woman if he treats her. I say it's a matter best decided on a case-by-case basis by the parties themselves. There are no hard and fast etiquette rules for many behaviors any longer.

This is a growing trend though and I do like it when women are actually more independent.

well i didn't mean for them to pay for the traveling all together,just have enough money to actually do something like that.i dont think i sound like a free-loader.my ex and only boyfriend i've had so far.never did anything special for me,no valentines anything,he didn't even remember my birthday.i even payed for every date we ever went on.so it's whatever,man.
