I'd have to say that's not normal. the fact that a guy has some body hair proves that he has testosterone. Men who have the same ammount of or less body hair than me creep me out. It feels like I am with a prepubesecent boy.

I think it may have to do with the media portrayal of sexy, ripped men. Just as we want our women super skinny with unproportionally big boobs, I think we like our men all greased up and clean shaven. Look at the new movie 300, all the men are totally ripped with muscles and totally clean shaven. I guess they had the MACH 5 shaving technology then....you need to realize what we think is beauty is taught. Go back thru History and you'll see how it dramatically changes.
You may recall the Asains thinking small feet where super sexy and made their women wrap their feet....Our concept of beauty has overstepped itself in modern times, that people must get surgically modified to meet it.

if you look at my picture, you can see that i have a relatively hairless body.

but since i have trouble growing a mustache, which i like to wear now and again, i often let my nose hair grow long enough to cover my upper lip.
