Its not common but it is normal. You are the best judge of whether you should talk to your dad about it. But I don't see how you'd get anything out of it unless you wanted to have sex with him and you thought he might too.

i think you should just "test the water" a little. Being a divorcee with a daughter in her early 20's, it happened with us a couple of years ago and it was far better than with the ex wife.
