A customer came in today. She just had her baby a couple weeks ago. I was her cashier and a few other co workers were dripping with "Awws" and "So cutes". I love babies. I want kids. I LIKED the customer. I just don't care about people's babies. I'm doing my job helping a customer, making sure everything rings up right, and filling out a return slip for a bottle of pills. If I screw the return slip up, I get written up. So I had to make sure I was paying good attention to that. Anyway, It's not in my job description to oogle over someones baby. Plus my hands are dirty and I work with the public and money so I'm thinking the parent would probably appreciate if I were to stay away. I wasn't rude or anything, I just checked her out had a nice conversation and gaver her a slip for her purchase, said "Thank you, see you next time!" Well, I guess she didn't like that I was the only one not absolutely dying over baby. She called my supervior and complained about my conduct towards her. I got written up!!!! My supervisor just told me to 'fake it till you make it'. It was a blow from left field! I had no idea what to say! How many people come through the line everyday with a kid in tow? I don't have to know their kid's name and breastfeed them for hell sake! So I guess what I'm saying is...Is it normal that I don't pay attention to people's kids? I don't hate them, I love kids! I have 17 nieces and nephews and love them all! Egh. People amaze me.

Congrats you made a cute kid, one pic would work, I don't give a fuck if he uses the potty yet, move on!
Kids get the same reaction from me that a telephone poll gets, any kid that is.
Then again, that woman sounds like a crazy attention whore who probably has nothing better in her life than that obviously doomed child of an egomaniac that she managed to drop out her cooch like seven billion other human beings have done.
Granted, I'm a cynic. Most of my friends are irresponsible and dont have much to their name if not maybe a GED so when I gaze upon their little accidents that the government is feeding my heart is more so filled with sympathy for them than joy.
"OH MY GOD, ISNT HE JUST PRECIOUS AND WONDERFUL !!!!, OH GOSH HE'S SO MUCH BETTER THEN THE OTHER MILLION BABIES THAT WERE BORN AT THE SAME TIME!!!"
"HOLY FUCK YOU FIGURED OUT HOW TO RUB YOUR GENITALIA TOGETHER THIS IS A NOVEL ACCOMPLISHMENT WE MUST THROW A PARADE, YOU ARE TO BE COMMEMORATED IN YOUR GREATNESS FOR DOING WHAT EVERY OTHER LIVING CREATURE HAS BEEN DOING FOR CENTURIES!!! YOU MADE IT, YOU ACCOMPLISHED!" and then you ask them where they signed up for food stamps so you can ask them how much they will give you for not squirting out the next generation of trailer trash. Or maybe a "Congratulations when do you plan on putting him on Adderal so you dont have to listen to him?"
I'm not one for talking down to children, but you do need to talk at their level most of the time.
Since when are babies and kids not people?
You can take any infant, from any culture in the world, and if you expose that infant to any language or even multiple languages, they will speak those languages fairly fluently by the time they are about five years of age. If you speak correctly with them, they will learn to speak correctly. The trick is to understand at what level the child's intellectual development is, at any particular stage of development.
If you really think about it, if everyone agreed, we could stop many negative behaviours in society, simply by not teaching these things to children. Every word or sometimes phrases express a thought, idea or concept. Ideally, if we stopped teaching these negative thoughts, ideas or concepts, we could (mostly) eliminate them within a generation.
i REALLY hate it when people upload pictures almost DAILY of their babies on FB.
