It's like when I'm in yahoo chat and some kid tries going off on how they're going to shoot everyone, and how "tough" they are... until they start talking to people who've actually handled real weapons.
They usually get quiet after that, but a few select individuals try to bluff their way out of it, not realizing that it doesn't convince anyone and just provides humor fodder for everyone else.
And what kind of "real weapons" are you referring to? I spit on those who think the AR-15 or any of it's variants is a "real weapon". Now, the Winchester 1892...THAT'S a real weapon. And Glocks suck. Anything polymer framed sucks.

ARs aren't bad however. Especially if you live in a state that doesn't nanny-regulate how big your magazine can be.
