I've read it, and I actually think she has a good chance of it getting published. She is an avid reader and loves animals, hates people, and loves fantasy stuff? IIN?

Oh that's awesome, please try your best to support her.

Even if this one doesn't get published, she's only 10! Imagine how much better she can get if she keeps writing.

Have others read it. If they like it try to get it published.

It's lovely that she's doing all that.

But I would get on that "hating people" thing if I were you. It's not a good sign at any age, and it's not a really happy way to live. I would imagine that it would adversely affect her writing as she limits her exposure, and thus her experiences, with other people. So there's that.

she thinks that the human race is a waste of space but she is social and has a lot of friends

So what you're saying is that she looks down on her family and friends? That doesn't seem like the most appealing character trait.

Nihilism in a kid that young? I still say :( to that.

When I was 7 to 10 years old or so I had a serious hatred for humans, I thought they were a waste of space and wanted the planet to be free from them even if that meant i'd be gone too.

I never told the adults because they would have thought me insane, but I am actually pretty okay now. I don't think it's an alarming thing to be nihilistic at that age. She's just exploring the options.

Nowadays I actually have a better opinion of this species.

um no but the problem in the book is that there are pure magic beings that represent parts of nature and stuff
she represents animals
one is elements (weather, fire, rock)
one is plants
one is abstract stuff like art (good things that people have done)
the bad guy is people
the 4 good guys have to fix what people are doing to the earth by killing/fixing the bad guy. if they kill it, the entier human race gets wiped out; one species extinct vs the entire world gone
or they can try to fix this thing and fix people whitch will be near imposible
then this thing captures her friends and will kill them if she doesnt do something so she has no choice bu to shoot the thing with an arrow, obviosly killing it

Getting published is extremely difficult, and most companies won't take a ten-year-old seriously. It's perfectly normal for a writer of any age to want their work published, but she should probably wait another ten years before getting mixed with the real publishing world.
I'd suggest looking up i-proclaim. You can get a copy of HER book for an extremely reasonable price (depending on the length, somewhere between $6 to $16). No charges, no traps.
I've been burned badly by self-publishing companies, so take from my experience: i-proclaim.

That's awesome! I would definitely encourage her to keep on writing :)

Yepp, my 9 year old is currently writing a book she wants to publish.

You should support love of writing! It's a great thing. As for her said hatred of people, I don't think at that age you can take that very seriously. I also think the story she is writing sounds very environmentally driven by the way you have described it, not disturbing. She likely feels very strongly about environmental issues going on and is upset that a lot of these issues are supposedly manmade. If anything, it sounds like you're exaggerating when you say she 'hates' people in general.

All of those ideas are really her own? I'm pretty intrigued I have to say. It sounds like a book for our time...a lot of people would respond well to those ideas right now. Sorry, I know putting it that way sounds odd and takes some of the awe away from the fact that such a young mind has such an interesting idea.

With spelling like that? I dearly hope not...

I had that phase from 7-18. I don't think I ever got over it, just branched out into other things. I think you're either born a writer or not. Your daughter is meant to write, and age is not a factor.

kessy i would love to have a snippet of your book i love writing and reading other peoples creations its so personal and creative.

You can tell her that nobody publishes a novel at 10, but please, encourage her interest in writing. I wouldn't say she's normal, but when I was 10, I also loved animals and stories and writing. Thing was, I eventually stopped enjoying writing because everyone told me I was weird. She's probably very thoughtful and sensitive for her age, so you should encourage her, and praise her writing as much as possible.

She's young and she has an active imagination...if she has talent, let her try to get her novel published...also about the "hating people" thing, try to put her in some type of creative writing class for children...it will help with her social skills being that she would be around people that have something in common with her.

I say go ahead and try to publish it. Just make sure that if she's turned down, she won't be too disappointed. She's really young still and she might take it really hard if the publishers reject her book. That's what I'd be most worried about.

I'd like to suggest too that you get an editor. Most 10 year olds (although yours sounds exceptional) aren't the best at spelling or getting an idea across effectively. I do think you have a good chance though. It sounds interesting. I'd look forward to reading it. :)

I wish it were normal! If more kids actually had an interest to do things besides sit around on computers all day or obsess over stupid crap on TV, maybe there'd be more hope for the future.

Encourage this behavior! This is better than normal!
