I mean if you're just learning the language, then it doesn't bother me. But if someone were to say to me "I ain't goin' no wheres!" it would seriously piss me off. I think this pet peeve started because the man who's been abusing me is 47 years old and still reads at a grade 3 level, his English is horrid. But to get to the point, IIN to get mad over such a small thing? Misspelled words, improper English, etc. It all annoys me.

It doesn't bother me all that much. I think it depends on the context. If it's a text message or an IIN post then I'm fine with bad spelling and grammar as long as I understand it. It doesn't have to be Shakespeare it just has to be readable.

I must admit that it pissed me off when the post is so badly written that it can't be understood but other than that I'm fine with it.

Not being racist but i have noticed that British people don't say the t's in most words i think its cute ^.^

Which words for example? I'm British, but I've never noticed this trait.I was reading something the other day about this but I couldn't think of any examples.

I'm one of those that doesn't sound T's in my natural accent. A posh English person would pronounce bitter with a T sound, Americans and the Irish might say "bidder", but I just say bi, then a glottal stop, then er.

It's also common near me to silently pronounce the word "the" and replace it with a very subtle gesture like the tiniest nod of the head or the impression of a word being said, but with no actual sound. If I ask "Are you going down the pub?" people hear "Are you going down pub?" but in my mind I've said the "the", just non-verbally. And people with my accent have "heard" it that way too.

actually, i strongly despise foreigner-English after dating this one German who said things like "male-valence" instead of malevolence, because he knew what a valence shell was but not malevolence -_-

Yes, I feel the same way, even in my own language(bulgarian). I know a guy, he's about 30, and he constantly writes and spells wrong. It drives me crazy! I mean it's not even difficult words, there are easy, short words, and he still gets them wrong.

I fucking hate it when people say pacifically - arrgghh. Are you not more concerned about the 47 y o fucktard abusing you?
Comment Hidden (show)

Riight. Needs to be concerned about that rather than grammar. Maybe they busy have a mental issue where they can't see what's important and what isn't EXAMPLE : OTHER PEOPLES BAD GRAMMAR. Get over it and get yourself to intensive therapy.

I don't understand, are you agreeing with me or saying I need therapy?

Agreeing. The person being abused needs therapy.

Oh good. And to stop being abused too. Best of luck OP, best of luck everyone.

I'm sorry, I started a sentence with 'and'. Now I'm getting really self conscious about my grammar, did I use the wrong quotation marks? This sucks.

If the person is learning the language or has some sort of condition (speech impediment, etc) it won't bother me. If it's incorrect English, ghetto speak, or text message language than it will piss me off.
Comment Hidden (show)
Yes, absolutely yes. I get so pissed off in those situations. It bothers me especially when someone is typing, and I know that they know what they typed is spelled wrong, or uses incorrect grammar. It's honestly too difficult for me to type in text lingo.

I'd have to agree. The person who posted this should go to therapy for the abuse.. But maybe they haven't because they can't afford it? I'm not sure. I don't know. But overall, improper English bothers me as well. But only when spoken does it bother me. In text, not so much. But 'txt spk' bothers me quite a bit.

hhey. lisen. its awright.

I agree; however I must point out your split infinitive (poor grammar-syntax) in your post "to strongly hate" which should be "to hate strongly"
