Just be yourself, if your interests happen to relate closely to the subculture called "Emo" then go ahead and call yourself one, just because you don't know anyone else the same does not mean you are abnormal. Also, skin colour does not affect your interests. :D

You are completely normal. There's nothing wrong with having an interest for a certain subculture, even when you are black. You say you don't know anyone who is fully emo... Well, maybe you should search on the Internet for sites for people with the same interests. Maybe you should also look for other black emos. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

well the way mine is , i have it chemicaly straightened. it a mohawk on the back with the front falling into an emobang //.< thought i have to restraighten it evry 6 or 8 weeks or so. but most people ive seen have long dreadlocks falling over there faces. but seriously emo isnt only about hair.

Nothing wrong with not being normal in the alternative here. Strange can be good. Tomboys, punks, northern gentlemen, they're all a rare breed and everyone agrees they're pretty awesome, even if they're by no means "normal." I think you need to define what not-normal is. I mean, you aren't turning this into some sort of sob fest about how excluded you feel, so I'm going to guess you're not that emo. I mean you can be a fan of it but you don't sound like "I'm gonna go cry if you call me not emo."
