With regards to the story, as a born and bred Englishman who lives in the asian colonies of northern England, I couldn't agree more with your ideas. I have many asian friends whose families have come to this country to contribute to society and integrate, and they are good, decent people. However I can't be doing with people who come into this country just to sponge off it and live in their own little world. Some don't even bother to learn English ffs. It should be a requirement as terms of entry that they have to learn to speak English and swear some sort of allegiance to this country and its ideals. It's this isolationism which is creating all these 'British' terrorists, so either embrace the culture of your new country or f*ck off back where you came from. Not sure I agree with you on the whole changing religion thing as that's opening up a whole can of worms, although I am opposed to religion in general, and regard some aspects of Islam to be somewhat barbaric in the modern age (though I could say the same about other religions, i.e. Christianity).

no need to be changed 100%!! i am an immigrant living in japan,i am from latin america. and it is hard to follow this culture,but not so much the culture as the system. here what ever your damn boss says, that is what you have to do and say nothing about it, but must get used to it. on the religious area, i am a protestant and do not think to change to buddism or shinto just because i am here; but i do respect their religion and i expect to have my religion respected. different to other religions i do not make others change to mine. is a matter of RESPECT. and in my religion we do not kill "in the name of God", that is just wrong. the worse thing is that the coran itself states that killing others is wrong, so what is going on with the muslims???
when being an immigrant, life style must change in order to addapt to the new place, but one should not be FORCED to "become" a person from that place. i actually find it stupid when i see immigrants in japan that try to "be" japanese by making and changing their culture and all their way of living, it just does not fit , they will never be japanese and than will be seen all the time. no use. addapt to the new place's life style is what must be done, but keep your way of being.

If somebody decides to immigrate, it goes without saying that they should learn the language and the laws. Just as importantly, they have to learn to respect, or at the very least, accept the other cultures (especially the ones native to the said country). If you think that you can just tell somebody to stop believing or doing something perfectly healthy that they've been doing all their lives, it should be no business of yours.

Simple fact is that if the immigrant would respect and try living to the customs of their adoptive country we wouldnt be discussing this. If we are good enough to allow these people into or system the least they can do is try respect our customs and traditions, after all their reason for coming here is our better way of life. Yet many of them (not all) refuse to act as Australians, Americans, Britons etc and should this be the case they should return to the squaller they originate from.

I just think we should all intergrate a little more, learn a little about each other...I have a muslim friend who I can ask ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING and vice versa. To give you some idea we were once having coffee and I asked him 'Where in the Qu'ran does it say to blow people up or fly planes into buildings' within 10 minutes he'd got a hold of an english version of the Qu'ran and we were going through the bits he thought terrorits had mis-interpreted as 'kill', learned alot in that hour...it's a shame more asians whether hindu, muslim whatever arent as opan as my friend, the uk would be a much happier place.
