Interracial Dating, White guy/Black girl
85% Normal

Alright, well, I'm a 19 year old white male and I've always been attracted to black girls. However, I've never acted on it, because I feel like they aren't attracted to me.

I've only dated white girls before, but there is a black girl who I work with who I really like and am attracted to. I've known her for about a year (that how long i've been at my current job) , but never chilled with her outside of work/really gotten to know her well.

I would love to date her, but don't know how to let her know how I feel/or figure out if she'd like me like that.

any tips? i'd really appreciate it.
Do you think it's normal?

You could go over to her desk and make small talk with her. Find out what she likes and when you know what kinds of food shes into you can ask her if she wants to "grab lunch" with you. (like going out to buy a sandwich, not like a date.)

Keep an eye on things to see how much she flirts, whether she might be interested. There are alot of interracial couples, and it can work.
As a single black woman, I can tell you that many of us wish that men of different races and ethnicities would openly express their interest in us.

Some black women, especially if they were raised 'old school' and in the church are taught though to wait for the man to approach them and not to show interest first for fear of coming across as loose or promiscuous. This might sound silly in this day and age, but there is a whole history behind it in which many black women were treated as only sexual objects, specifically by white men. Today it is through popular culture in general in most rap videos, etc.

This is not to discourage you, but to enlighten you. You should still pursue it, but since you mention that you work with her, just be careful in your approach so that it isn't misconstrued as any kind of inappropriate conduct.

I recommend the other poster's suggestion that you ask her to lunch and take it slow and get to know her more as a friend first. After having lunch a few times then let her know that you are interested.

This is key because then you would have had the opportunity to have several conversations with her and she will think you are now genuinely interested in her and not just curious to get her in the sack because you wonder what black girls are like, or have some sort of fetish, etc. (Yes, many of us have that fear/insecurity)

I think if you start slow with the lunches and have some good conversation, it can defintely grow into something more. Good luck!
If you like her, you like her... More power to you man, you are able to rise above the racial stigma that everyone seems to have.
Thank you for your great insight Amazing728!

It's reassuring to know that many black women feel that way. I think many white men are attracted to black women, but are afraid to show it because society is sadly so closed minded on the subject..I personally am most attracted to black women (not in a fetish-like way, I just find them the most beautiful), and I wish more people would open up and accept this, rather than shun it. However, WM/BW couples are becoming more common, slowly but surely.

I'll take your advice and not rush into it, cus I really like her and don't want to ruin it. Thanks again!
you may not think this but most girls dont care about the race instead they like you for your personality start off as friend have small talk buy here lunch if she says its okay .then ease yourself into a relationship.
