Is it normal as siblings age to lose affection for one another???

My siblings seem to have lost interest in family gatherings anymore. We used to travel to have yearly reunions as we all live in the northwest, though at range. For the last three years this has not happened. I know money is tight & travel cost is more expensive. My siblings seem to always be too busy to meet together or have other obligations. Is it normal for aging siblings to lose affection for one another as they age???

As we get older, our priorities change. The love for a family remains the same, but other things become more important. Their children, husband, wife, and job become their #1. They might not be able to travel because all their time and/or money is being put into that.

Yes it is normal. Sad but normal. Thankfully I am only 2.5 hours away from my brother, and we have both been lucky enough to get jobs that allow us that range of travel with relative ease, so I get to stay close to him.

I have no doubt that when one of us starts a family, that will have a huge impact on how much we get to see each other. This will sadden me greatly when that time comes!

It's normal for middle age families, but usually as their lives get less busy, and they all get older, often it picks back up

I'm 24 and I'm sorry to hear about your problem. I hope my relationship with my sister only improves from here. I love her more every day and I don't see that changing. I hope not anyway.

They aren't losing affection for you. They're trying to start their lives. It's part of growing up.
