I have the same issue except I am the 30yo guy, no kids tho
She went out of her way to catch my attention, the idea had never crossed my mind before then, she's also very like me, which is strange and I can pass for early 20s, which she didn't know at first but finding out hasn't changed her mind

I feel awkward about it due to her age and have been very cautious with the whole thing
I know it won't work out, the age gap will come into play eventually and I don't want her to get hurt
I do really like her and need to get it sorted out soon, one way or the other

I don't think I would really care all that much. I'm 20, and I've met a lot of 30 year olds in college who I surprisingly connected with on a much deeper level then with many guys I met who are my own age. They seem to talk about more meaningful things. I kinda would rather sit and talk with a 30 yr old about something that was just on the news, then talk to a guy my age who acts like he only wants to talk about sex all the time.

Sure, there is an age difference, but I think that in 2011 it's becoming really common now. I think since there is an age difference, you could probably learn to balance each other out in certain aspects.

Well, if he's rich, that's certainly something you have to watch out for. Nowadays MANY young girls go for the rich guys because of the money. As for the age different, I honestly find it pretty weird, but it's as they say, "Age is just a number."

In my opinion, I usually go for the guys who are five or less years older than me, but love is love! You can't choose that person, easy as that :).

Don't go for it, it won't last. Many people who get involved with younger people tend to get annoyed by the major maturity level of the person. Believe me, age has a lot to do with it because everyone goes through similar stages around the same age. Eventually he'll leave you because he realized that you're too young. Trust me, it won't work. Happens all the time

That age difference is not that significant. What is significant is your comment that you don't know what you may have in common. That right there tells me there is little reason for a relationship.

What can you talk about with some 18 year old kid? I'm 30 and even 25's stretching it. Immaturity is a BIG turnoff though the media keeps trying to play the young body thing up all the time.

It doesn't matter what others think. Don't let their hangups on age get to you. As long as you're both consenting adults it should be fine. Just go with the flow and see where it takes the two of you.
