I LOVE to draw! And I draw all the time! I have drawn since I was 5 years old. And I REALLY love that I have the ability to express myself.
I draw mythical creatures, the characters I make up, comics, animals, and ...whatever comes to mind!
I draw what I feel and it helps me unleash emotions or conditions I worry about, as well as it just being fun.
...But my family HATES it. They despise my art and they say "what the fuck is that worthless piece of shit supposed to be?" whenever they see it. (Which is why I don't show them anymore)
Whenever I try to explain what it is, they tell me that I am fucked up.
They are unsupportive of my talent and they even say how much they hate art of any kind (translation...mine...) when I am standing right in front of them.
Not like I really care what they think, because I love my passion and have worked my way around their negative attitudes and simply ignore them. But I was just wondering if any other person’s parents are so unsupportive of their art/passion.

HELL NO it's not normal for them to be that way towards your passion! I am so glad that you haven't let it affect you in a negative way. You sound like an amazing artist to me, and I hope you find someone who'll really appreciate your beautiful creations some day.

Don't ever stop drawing, and don't take what they say to heart. I wish I could draw, but sadly, was not gifted as an artist!
my parents have allways supported me with my art, but then again I do come frome a artzy family. (but more in the musical sence) I can imagine why some parents aren't supportive, but to say they hate your art? that's horrible!!.
don't worry about it. just keep on drawring and you will get better don't let others tear you down. it's a good hobby and talent that so many ppl would like to posses.
just think the next time they say something like that, at least you have a passion, I know so many people who have no passions I just can't stop thinking how boring there lives must be and how I'm so happy I'm not like them.
