I mean, I understand nobody wants to see this: "I luv chkn n panzcake. U eat cHiken wit Da pancak?" That certainly is obnoxious. However, I notice people constantly correcting silly things, in order to take a stab at someone- just because they don't like the comment posted. It's like they can't find an intelligent rebuttal, so they fill in the gap. They can't honestly think it's proving a point. It's like someone comes up to you and says "You don't know how to make pineapple upside down cake, do you?" Then you retaliate by saying "Your shoe's untied, idiot!" Let's not forget these same people make mistakes in their grammar all the time. VERY few people use correct grammar in general. I can point out mistakes in best-selling books; but I don't. Do you know why? It's retarded, that's why.
IIN how much I hate this stupid crap?
BTW: If you correct my grammar, I will delete your comment.

For example I've seen people say things like "Your an idiot!" That's just begging to be corrected because they failed at the entire "I'm smarter than you are!" theme when they couldn't even spell the insult correctly.
Now if it's just an innocent typo and the writer isn't trying to be a jerk the I'll be more apt to ignore grammar mistakes myself.
I might even say something like "Yeah, I never have tyops or speling errors!" just to make them feel better about the small mistakes.
So basically, it's all determined by the attitude of the person making the grammar errors.
Side note ... wow, it's hard to intentionally misspell words now. My updated browser has autocorrect, not just spellcheck. :-)
Usually if I say it by itself, I do it to correct them, not to take a stab at them.
If people didn't do it to me, my grammar would still be terrible. So I don't hate it, I embrace it.
If those who did correct you did so out of kindness, that's rather a good thing. If they did it to be a jerk, then of course they're jerks. You know?
I hate when people are just trying to be mean to others by insulting their written English. That doesn't mean I have a problem with constructive criticism; it means I have a problem with brats.
Although some people just do it to be assholes or as an easy way to criticise someone.
And others do it out of the honest conviction that spelling, grammar and other misc. English skills are the end all be all for what makes a person intelligent. I call those people... losers.
But otherwise, I don't have a problem with constructive criticism outside of the context of someone just being an asshole to you because they don't like what you're saying or have nothing better to call you out for. That's just lame.
If they are being nice it is fine. If they are being insulting and rude I do not like it.
Do we have to spell check everything we type I mean come on! It's harder to type on your phone/iPad etc. too. If I can understand what your saying and what you type doesn't make mY EyEs HUrT I don't care. This isn't English class.
It never ceases to amaze me though that the same people I let slide. CUT MY ASS for very scantily mistakes.
I also noticed that people use a lot of words they don't really understand.
1. Trying to learn the language and they just don't know.
2. Trying to imply that they're smarter than someone else, or calling someone else stupid or ignorant in their grammatically incorrect comment.
99.9% of the times I'm corrected by another person - it's usually done with good intentions and I'm thankful for it. But yeah I know there are times when you think someone is just using it as a way of getting back at a person which I find extremely pathetic.
I had a friend who was constantly telling me "It's not 'I'm scared of you!' It's 'I'm afraid of you!'. You can be scared /by/ someone or something, however. And you can't be afraid /by/ someone or something."
I really hated it when she did that. I STILL can't see how saying 'scared of' sounds wrong. D:
I'm pretty sure I pointed out that I hate the corrections WHEN THEY ARE POINTED OUT JUST TO BE RUDE. Yeah, I definitely did. So stop insinuating that I plain don't like grammar corrections.
Fuck.
