I just can't seem to sleep ever. I lay in bed with everything turned off but thoughts still provoke my mind. I just had another night without any sleep whatsoever. Is there anything I can do? I know I can't be the only one. How do others deal with this? My job performance is starting to decrease and I believe the suits are starting to notice. =(

I used to be just like that. Then my grandma told me about this over-the-counter medicine called Melatonin. It's an all-natural sleep medicine and it can't hurt you. I would do the 3mg if I were you. It'll work, trust me.

Yep, it works great. I pop them on school nights when I need to fall asleep fast. Just pop a pill, lay down, close your eyes and before you know it your alarm clock will be ringing and it will be time to get up.

I use Melatonin as well. I like it because it makes me sleep very deeply and I feel very rested afterwards. The reason I use it instead of any other kind of sleep pill is that if you take one, then realize you have to go out for something, it wont force you to fall asleep!

Good advice. Melatonin works for many. It doesn't work for me, though. Nothing does. Well, not quite nothing. Nothing healthy, though.

What is an unhealthy option?

Drugs, alcohol, sledgehammer administered to the part of the head that makes you unconscious for a while. :)

I have nights like this its fustrating and sucks all you want to do is sleep but you can't id seek help from a doctor who can give you mdeicne if it gets to a really bad point.

See a doctor.

You do have a couple options that may help. Take a warm bath before bed to relax you. Don't watch tv before bed, its too stimulating - try a book or something. Don't go to sleep on an empty or a full stomach. A night light or a liitle bit of calm, quiet noise can help. Aromatherapy. Make sure you are getting proper nutrition. No caffeine after lunch. Lastly, I've heard of but don't know about Melatonin, but another option is Benadryl in a pinch (though dont take any meds for very long without talking to a doctor or pharmacist first!)

No caffeine after lunch? I've been doing that all week, been wondering why I've had such a hard time sleeping.

Just a suggested time. Caffeine affects different people differently. I try to avoid it anyways.

I have it on/off all the time, it used to make me really grouchy and depressed, but eventually I realised there's no point in stressing over no sleep because then you WILL get no sleep, just forgetting about everything will enable you to relax and you'll drift off naturally ^__^

Also if you've been awake for a while I suggest either swapping ends of the bed or maybe a different room. A new environment used to help me a lot :)

Most frequently, I tend to use hypnosis and self-hypnosis to train the idea of quieting my thoughts when desired, not necessarily for the purpose of sleeping. Nevertheless, I believe it works well for insomnia; dozens and dozens of therapeutic hypnosis files are available to listeners for free ( created for sleep and relaxation).

It's a rather uncommon approach, I suppose, but still a peaceful and enjoyable way to drift off to sleep. I listen just about every night nowadays. :)
