Is it normal I think they should ask classes to deal with retarded children in school? I have gotten in trouble a couple of times for not knowing how to deal with retarded children when I went to high school or middle school and I thought one day why do they not make classes for any of this stuff?
I mean they expect regular students to be able to deal with slow kids and they are not equipped. When I was back in middle school yes a long time ago. I got in a fight with a slow girl however she was huge tall big and I was way smaller than her. She started badmouthing me in class one day for no reason. We had prior to this had been friends and I was nice to her.
So I ignored the badmouthing which was encouraged by the class and this was in an elective class I might add. After ignoring the name calling I left the class in a hurry trying to avoid any trouble. She pushed me into a door and started hitting me. Than walked away.
I was angered by this and fought back hitting her in the head after she walked away and jumping on her back till I was pulled off by a teacher who’s classroom we fell into. The counselor who spoke with me wanted to lock me away for being criminally insane they told me it was all my fault since I was not mentally challenged like the other girl.
I mean if this is such a issue why do they not have classes to teach regular students how to deal with slow children? I was suspended 3 days and her only one since I was the bad guy here. I mean it is not my fault am I suppose to be hurt because they are slow?

Maybe the idea could be expanded and the class could be about life skills in general, including some of the kinds of things people ask about here. It's important stuff, knowing how to handle yourself. It can shape your life way more than any other qualification.
You were punished because you did not know?
In their words: 'it was all your fault since you were not mentally challenged like the other girl.'
No one informed (or educated) you to provide 'special' treatment for this girl. Maybe even YOU require special treatment and NO one presently knows yet (not even you!) I say you BOTH should have received the same suspension of one day.
In my view, you were not treated fairly in respect to your presently understood equals (at the time). If that student had abused a teacher would that still be ok? Or would have the school been less understanding? Respect goes BOTH ways.
Duck duck duck duck duck duck duck duck duck duck duck ..
Say 'Goose' you retard! Since its correct, that would be ok :)
I do agree with you though OP, kids can't be expected to know how to deal with these situations. I'd have trouble in that situation now myself.
We had AP, which was for the best studied and those that were willing to do a *shit* ton of extra work, they counted as college classes.
Advanced, for the, well, advanced.
Regular, for those of average learning speed (I was offered AP but I wasn't willing to do the work).
Occupational Course of study, basically, for children who are not *retarded* per se, but are very close or mildly retarded. Not so much so that they needed to be in special ed but they couldn't handle a regular classroom environment either.
And then you had Special Ed (Progressive Education Program) which had classes catering to various levels of "mental challenges" if you will.
In addition, every child with special needs which had been put into regular classes had an aid with them that watched them at all times to ensure that this kind of shit didn't happen. Now some occupational students fell through the cracks because they didn't require constant supervision, but other than that, while the events that you listed could happen, the people bothering you would be average (or slightly below, in that magical border between average and retarded) but they wouldn't have a known special need.
Honestly, your act is considered criminal. You did not use force until after she walked away. That's a legal standpoint, and you probably used more force than she did. Self-defense is defined as use of equal or lesser force in order to deter the attacker, in your case, the attacker walked away. While I do agree that, in an educational environment, the special needs (or violent little assholes in general) should be kept in a differing environment to keep from obstructing our educational experience, and that the counselor should not have placed the blame squarely on you, getting angry and jumping on someone's back and hitting them after the fact is not self-defense. It's Assault and Battery. You were both equally wrong.
They do not teach them anything as the goal is to babysit and the ones who are slightly slow know nothing when they are intergrated into the class.
None of these schools are very good at intergrating either as they are hell bent on keeping them moronic yet pushing them into something they were never prepared for.
I know becuase we had a kid who was slightly slow very highfuctioning intergrated into our class and siad she learned nothing our class was learning when she was moved in.
Aslo anyone can be put in those classes and testing deos not determine what classes you get to take. It is simply the laws. Also at most the schools I been to the parents determine who gets to be in retarded and regulaur classes.
If a mom says I want my child in retarded classes the teachers have to put them in. If they say take my child our they have to. This is regardless of how well the child is preforming and how advanced they are testing.
I agree with yuo tho.
I was in classes waiy too dificult for me and continued to fail with no one to help me. Ther should be seperate.
I had some other classes with autistic kids, and slow kids mixed in with normal children. I wish it hadn't been like that.
