I don't like the thought of IVF myself, but then again, the thought of any surgical instruments touching my body makes me squeemish as hell.
It sounds normal and it is nice to hear someone that cares about it enough to consider the damage that poor genetics can do to a child. I say that if you're going to have kids, you want to eliminate as much risk as you possibly can and if in doing so, you must go through with IVF then I say it's the smart thing to do. Many women do IVF because their need for children goes beyond the emotional into the biological... it's nothing new and I hope that it works out for you should you ever go through with it.
