It actually would be funny for parents to say this together AS A JOKE, and obviously not realizing that you may be eaves dropping on them! They certainly were NOT meaning such a thing whilst having you and your husband over for dinner.

No but sometimes dads have double standards. They tell their sons, go out and get you some but they tell the girls if you even think about a boy you're DEAD. I believe in no sex until marriage.
