If you are happy being by yourself there is nothing to worry about. We live in a society with an extrovert ideal so of course you would feel pressure.

I think it can be pretty normal depending on the circumstances especially if you end up living far away from people you know.

Have you tried looking at a site like meetup.com to see if there are any groups around you that you might want to join? Doing volunteer work is a good way to meet people too. You can pick something relevant to your interests (animals, the environment, helping out a local theater/ playhouse, or whatever else you're into) and you'll have something already built in to talk to people there about. maybe its just the wrong environment for you. Don't despair there are many chapters in life and the right one for you where you will feel most comfortable may be just around the corner. Also with maturity comes confidence so you may even grow more adjusted to your environment with age. It's all about finding your niche. In the meantime, I'm happy to be your friend

I was near on the loneliest person on the face of the earth for a while. I made positive changes to my life by getting involved in groups and even meeting random people for coffee. Now my social life is great and even if somehow I lost every friend tomorrow I could build a new circle pretty quickly. There is no fast way to become a social person but if you start making social decisions and steps in the right direction then you will become one.
