Time and time again, I get friend zoned and every time I do, I get responses from my friends ranging from "unlucky", "bad luck" to even "sucks to be you". But why? Just because I got turned down for a date doesn't mean I should'nt be friends with a girl? I've made a friend and I want to keep it.
I don't fully understand what is so bad about the friend-zone, is it normal?

You can't expect that just because you do this, this and this a girl (or guy) is going to like you. The biological and psychological process of how we choose who we are attracted to is a multifaceted web, and it boils down to the simple fact that you don't know what they want. If that's you, fantastic. If it isn't, don't go whining about being friend zoned or how she fucked you over... you can't make someone love you. We all have to deal with the fact that many people we like will not return the feelings. But more than likely you will find yourself one day in the position of not being able to feel for another person what they feel for you. That's kinda just how it goes sometimes
