I am a middle manager who wants results on the job but my relationship with my nine managers is equally important. The nature of our business is that most managers are seasonal Jan - July and than they go back to their permanent position in the company. Normal time of the year that managers go down - but I left one manager up to run a uniquely important function. Two of my managers are now not speaking and displaying behavior very unbecoming of their position. I want to talk to them and remind them that people do watch their behavior whether they are a manager or not. Also to explain that I understand it is difficult - but I and all managers have been in the same position they are in. To say I am hurt and more than disappointed is an understatement but the relationship is still very important (but getting harder to keep myself in check the longer this goes on). My most current interaction with one trying to get her to talk was a bust. After saying hello "3" times she finally spoke in a nasty tone. When I went to speak to her later and asked what is going on that I had sia dhi "3" times she became nasty and said I spoke to you and what do you mean three times... It is important that my managers realize that if they can not demonstrate leadership qualitities in difficult situations how could they coach their employees to imporve in behaviors and difficult situations. The other just does not speak at all. All three have managed more than one season. The one I kept up 5 seasons and the two that sat down 1 1/2 seasons and 6 seasons. Any advise out there????
