Okay so I know everyone has their opinions and such but I hear all these people bashing on guns and how they should be banned and they're evil and such and it annoys me!
I don't mean to be offensive but in my mind they seem so ignorant! They assume everyone who has/wants a gun to be "trigger happy".. We aren't! If I woke up in the middle of the night to someone in my house I would point my gun at them and politely ask them to leave. But if they start to come at me of course I'm going to want to protect me and my family!!
You want to ban guns.. But think. The opposite is better! would you want to rob a house in a neighborhood that is known for being extremely Pro Guns? Would you want to rob a bank if you knew there was a high possibility that there could be 4-5 concealed carriers in there? NO!! Look at texas the most pro gun state! They have extremely low crime rates because they know if you try and mug someone there is a high chance it'll end worse for the mugger!
Owning a gun isn't about being able to kill people it's about being able to save others!

Criminals usually use Illegally-obtained firearms.
Smuggling of guns won't stop if they make it harder to get licences.
Gun Control will only prevent or make it more difficult for the honest citizens to obtain a firearm with which to protect themselves.
On the other hand, Criminals will be able to commit crime more freely without being concerned about being shot in the process.
The percentage of crimes committed with firearms which are committed by people who legally own their firearms is but a tiny percentage. In most areas it is next to 0.
These days people will do "it's for the children" lines or whatever other lines they want.
But gun-control laws have often been part of efforts to keep minorities in their place.

And here's some interesting facts - MLK was a gun-owner. And Ghandi was FOR the right to own guns.
Both men of peace - but both believed in the right to defense.
Hard to obtain guns... Funnily enough kids don't shoot up our schools and gun crimes are rare...
Gives you something to think about.
If I lived in a country where guns were legal and my parents owned one, I'm damn sure I would have decided to "play" with it when I was a kid. I may have contributed to the statistic that 35% of all gunshot injuries (and deaths) are accidental. If you add suicide and crime to the figures, I think it's something like 97% of gunshot incidents are the result of violent crime, suicide or accidents and protecting oneself (or property) accounts for just part of the remaining 3%. How can people argue that guns are required for security when it is thirty times more likely that they will directly hamper security?
I don't subscribe to the view that banning guns will drive them into the hands of outlaws. If you look at countries that have banned guns, the opposite has happened. The police hold armistices which allow people to hand in guns with absolutely no questions asked. Criminals are happy to get rid of evidence, even if handing it directly to the police seems an unnatural thing to do.
One concession I will make is that banning guns in a country such as, say, America in liable to be unpopular because of the way the country was born and defended. Also, it would be logistically difficult because the sheer number of weapons in private ownership. Nor is it really the business of non-Americans because Americans owning guns doesn't really endanger other countries much.
Besides, my rifle also brings fresh meat to the table during hunting season.
Or, to be very crafty, why aren't nuclear weapons legalised world-wide so countries can protect themselves from rogue states which possess them?
It's the same argument. People can't have it both ways.
Yes are there countries that ban guns and have low crime? Yes. The problem with that is that the gun-haters claim the crime is low BECAUSE of the lack of guns. And there's no proof of that other than their assumptions.
If you're a parent that owns a gun don't be stupid enough to let your kids know how to obtain it! There are gun safes for a reason! Teach the kids gun safety any then safely keep the guns locked up!
If all gun owners practiced this I guarantee 95% of child gun deaths would end immediately!
Don't blame the gun. Blame the person who didn't store it properly!
