Is it normal that I hover over names of users on old posts...

I hover over names of users with my mouse pointer in the comments section on older posts to see if they've been banned.
(Accounts that have been terminated no longer link to profiles.)

I don't know why I do it. Maybe just so I can think "haha they got you"

Doesn't that happen when you delete your account as well, though?

Dunno, but it gives me some sort of weird satisfaction if the comment itself was worthy of ban and the account is dead.

...besides, you need to use the contact form to request account deletion. I think few people would make that effort and ban is a more likely cause.

I guess, yeah. But most of them are probably deleted accounts, not terminated ones. You can request reactivation if your account is shut down, the Management is pretty good about that kind of thing.

Most of them were most likely closed down by the users themselves, instead of being banned. A user who has closed down their account can always ask TheManagement to reactivate it for them.

You'd have got that from my username, though, and I wasn't banned. I asked for my account to be closed. I actually asked for a little bit more than that too and was dissuaded. Credit to TheManagement on that one.

Some of those accounts aren't always banned, users just decide to delete their accounts. I have an old account that I deleted. Which was my first account here.

It happens when you delete your account aswell. I remember I got banned once.

Yeah. I get it. Accounts can be closed too.
