Is it normal that I want to believe in faeries?

I'm 19 years old, though my whole family is chatolic I've been agnostic since I was about 12. I don't care at all if god is real or not because I believe that if there's some sort of judgement or afterlife, what we did on during lives would be much more important that what we believed in. But I still really wish that I could see faeries and other mythical creatures. I really envy those wiccan and other people who say they can see faeries and who can believe in it really deep inside, but I don't feel this way with people from other religions - I don't hate them or think they're stupid to believe in God, I'm actually really happy for those who can change their life for better with religion's help, but I don't feel like I wanted to have faith like them... I just want to really, really believe in magic.

tl;dr - is it normal to be too rational to believe in religion , but to want that magic was real?

Magical lifestyles are pretty appealing. Normal is pretty... normal. lol My fiancee and I both are too rationally minded for conventional religion, but she practices Wicca, and I believe and participate in the vampire culture. Weird.

When you start spelling things with the "ae" vowel you've crossed over into fantasy land

Well science is like magic right? I love stars so much that when I was younger I thought of creating one. Now that I'm older I find it impossible and if I did find a way I would have probably destroyed the earth by accident.

Is it weird that I read you saying your family is "chatolic" at the same time as noticing member chat is well into double figures? I want to go in there and see who all your family are!

"is it normal to be too rational to believe in religion , but to want that magic was real? "

Rationally speaking, then reality is what facts are already known to us.
If you have a 'want' or other 'feeling' about anything else, then these are not the same as reality.

Sorry :(

There 'could be a magical god out there', but we don't just say there is and then start to prove it! (or 'believe' it to be true!)
We must first start with the basics and known facts and advance from there.
Otherwise people could just say there's a flying spaghetti monster (or any crazy creature), I just need to prove it! That can never work.

I'm Christian, but I love faeries and other mythical creatures. They are my obsession, and they definatly inspired some of my greatest stories (hince: The name "Kedder", in KeddersPrincess, from my "Alchemic" series). I don't believe they are real, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying them, and imagining a world if these things were true. Don't down yourself for not believing in them, but just enjoy the arts and history that comes with them.

Say the man with the power!
What power?!
The power of voodoo!
Who do, who do?!
You do! You do!
Do what?!
Remind me of a man!

I know the feeling. I've talked to people who said they can see fey. Know a few people who claim to have played with spellwork and summonings and different things... I haven't tried any of that myself, even though I realise it's probably nothing, I wouldn't want to take the risk just in the attempt to prove or disprove it.

I've had a few odd experiences with a pendulum. I would have other people hold them, and direct the questions to that person... things they shouldn't have been able to know, but they answered all of them correctly with the pendulum. That still kinda bugs me...

But moreso to the point, even without all that mysticism... we're surrounded by magic. We can use google maps and webcams to scry places thousands of miles away. We roll around in giant metal boxes on wheels, powered by controlled explosions. We can manipulate the shape of the earth and turn coal into diamonds. (terraforming and alchemy ;P)

So basically, to the people of old who were so rooted in magical thinking, what we have today really is magic. Magic is just shit science hasn't explained yet ;P

i think it's cute. but u remind me of someone. i'm not comparing u to him tho. just saying. there was this dude on youtube who thought he could turn into supersaiyan (dragonball z) by concentrating really hard. i just thought that was funny. ur post made me thought of that. but like i said, i;m not comparing u to him. i think it's normal to believe in fairy.

I've always wanted to believe in magic. I have more than one book on magical creatures. I love to draw them. I like to make wishes on stars and throw pennies in fountains. I like to stare at objects trying to make them come to life.
I wanted magic to take me away.

Once when I was little, there was this girl, who had a necklace that had belonged to her dead grandmother. She told everyone that it could grant wishes. I got jealous of her, and took it when she wasn't looking. I wished for something magic to happen and nothing did. She cried about it and I realized, I was selfish to have taken something like that from her.

I still want to believe in magic sometimes though. Don't ever stop dreaming about things <3
