I'm 19 years old, though my whole family is chatolic I've been agnostic since I was about 12. I don't care at all if god is real or not because I believe that if there's some sort of judgement or afterlife, what we did on during lives would be much more important that what we believed in. But I still really wish that I could see faeries and other mythical creatures. I really envy those wiccan and other people who say they can see faeries and who can believe in it really deep inside, but I don't feel this way with people from other religions - I don't hate them or think they're stupid to believe in God, I'm actually really happy for those who can change their life for better with religion's help, but I don't feel like I wanted to have faith like them... I just want to really, really believe in magic.
tl;dr - is it normal to be too rational to believe in religion , but to want that magic was real?

That's all the members that were in there when I checked. NotFloydzie and howaminotmyself were there before, but they had left by the time I read your comment. ::D
Rationally speaking, then reality is what facts are already known to us.
If you have a 'want' or other 'feeling' about anything else, then these are not the same as reality.
Sorry :(
There 'could be a magical god out there', but we don't just say there is and then start to prove it! (or 'believe' it to be true!)
We must first start with the basics and known facts and advance from there.
Otherwise people could just say there's a flying spaghetti monster (or any crazy creature), I just need to prove it! That can never work.
Merci! :)
What man?!
Say the man with the power!
What power?!
The power of voodoo!
Who do, who do?!
You do! You do!
Do what?!
Remind me of a man!
Etc...
I've had a few odd experiences with a pendulum. I would have other people hold them, and direct the questions to that person... things they shouldn't have been able to know, but they answered all of them correctly with the pendulum. That still kinda bugs me...
But moreso to the point, even without all that mysticism... we're surrounded by magic. We can use google maps and webcams to scry places thousands of miles away. We roll around in giant metal boxes on wheels, powered by controlled explosions. We can manipulate the shape of the earth and turn coal into diamonds. (terraforming and alchemy ;P)
So basically, to the people of old who were so rooted in magical thinking, what we have today really is magic. Magic is just shit science hasn't explained yet ;P
I wanted magic to take me away.
Once when I was little, there was this girl, who had a necklace that had belonged to her dead grandmother. She told everyone that it could grant wishes. I got jealous of her, and took it when she wasn't looking. I wished for something magic to happen and nothing did. She cried about it and I realized, I was selfish to have taken something like that from her.
I still want to believe in magic sometimes though. Don't ever stop dreaming about things <3
