Is it normal that I wish a character was real?

Ever since I was little I've had a character I made up, I draw her all the time. But ever since I've had her, I wished she was real. I draw us playing in a field, or playing a game, and I feel happy about it. I always dream of her being real and being my friend until the end, I also think of her as my "baby girl" at times, I care for her very much. Even to the point that I sometimes defend her if someone says something about her that I don't like. So, is it normal for me to wish my character was real and to be with me? And to care for it that much?

i think it's normal. it sounds like she's your idea of a best friend or significant other. but eventually, someone real will come along and you'll forget about this character.

It's normal. Have you ever heard of the story of Pygmalion? It's quite similar to what you've described.
