I'm scared of cotton balls. I can't look at them, touch them, anything. The idea of consuming cotton candy makes me shudder. I use super cheap q-tips that have a hard cotton end so I don't have to deal with the fluff on the better quality ones. they freak me out

lmfao
It's gross
But I have to wonder, if fear of cotton balls is somewhat common, what the root of the fear is. I tend towards the belief that phobias originate as defense mechanisms and we inherit them from our ancestors. So why cotton balls? What's something white and fluffy that would have posed a threat to our ancestors? Any ideas, anyone?
