I'm a guy and I'm turning 21 real soon. There's this girl in university that I have a huge crush on. She's really nice to me. I've known her for about a year, but we'd only talk for like 2 minutes every time we crossed paths. A few months ago we had a longer conversation than usual, and after it was over she suggested that we trade numbers and text each other, that's great. I texted her one time and she texted me back, it was a nice conversation. But the next time I did she didn't text back. But, I didn't persist so I wouldn't appear pushy. In university I am rather shy when I ask if I could sit next to her and hang out with her and her friends for a bit and it's pretty obvious, but she says yes, which is nice. She told me to walk her to one of her classes one time. I even suggested that we hang out over the weekend, and she said "call me". But this is where it gets hard. Picking up my phone and touching the call button. I just lay there looking at her number, but I can't seem to get my thumb to make the call, it's frustrating. Eventually I was able to do so the other day, but she said she was busy and that we could talk the next day. So today I tried doing the same thing, and it took forever to get the balls to call her again (she didn't answer my text, so I thought maybe a call could work). However, I got no answer. Is she trying to avoid me? Does she not like me? Is it normal that I'm nearly 21 and I'm this afraid of rejection and worried of what the girl thinks of me? I feel as if I'm 13 and asking out a girl for the first time.
