I look at the media, and the people I used to go to school with...and I just feel...
I feel like people here are so trapped in their own bubble they call the world and don't really realize what's truly happening. The other day I watched a clip from Jersey Shore and felt extremely uncomfortable.
Some people seem to always justify things no matter how good of a person they are...you know what I mean?
Now its starting to really irk me. My friend and I are Muslims, and a lot of the Muslim community are not really going to Star Bucks anymore because of the fact that they support a certain army that we're not very fond of.
But since my friend happens to really like their coffee, she 'justified' it by saying, 'oh, well its not like me not buying there is gonna make any difference.' I was mad and said it has nothing to do with that. You wouldn't shop at a grocery store that supported child abuse, would you?
Does any of this make sense? I'm not saying all people are like this, nor am I perfect, but I just want to know if there is someone out there who feels like this. And this is just a tiny bit of how I feel...
I say my biggest flaw is that I am human.
I wish to meet people like...Abraham Lincoln, or...Philippe Petit! What extraordinary people..unlike a celebrity like Snooki or something..no, not nearly as fascinating. Is this also normal??

It is normal. I'm Muslim and feel that many people are missing something in their lives which blinds them.

That being said I still find lots of people who are happy with their lives and actively try making a difference by organizing pro Palestine events and raisin awareness.

It's not all bad. And like ^ said. Relax, were only responsible for ourselves so be happy and don't stress over your Entire generation lol. Hope this helps :)

i know what you mean im not a muslim though or belong to any religion but i do know that this world is pretty much screwed this sense of life that people believe to be the only way is a cancer and people dont even realise not only that but were inslaved and worship money were always wanting that one thing that makes the world so bad (money)
if this world is to change atall the generation who make this change will suffer alot but the generations after will be free and brought up happy in an equal world i would gladly live in hard times for future freedom

You are normal, and rare. The world us becoming increasingly repulsive to me; morals and values have dwindled to an all time low. I am not religious, nor am I Muslim, but as a human, I feel what's wrong and right. I don't know how to help you, because I am in the same situation. I just feel a great sadness and disappointment with the world around me. And if course, those who drown themselves in delirious (often selfish and immoral) pleasures will tell you otherwise. They make up excuses about being human and such, and forget responsibilities. And come bashing you with negative comments. Stay true my friend.

It's okay to feel this way, as I feel this way too. We make personal committments to support or decide not to support certain causes. I am also angry at how certain countries live a life-style of sin, greed, and consume more than they need too without a care in the world at the atrocities/exploitations of others. We must be vigilant and strong each day no matter what religion or country we're from.

I think it's a phase. You have to pick your battles. And when the battle you are fighting (not going to Starbucks) starts to seem like a wasted effort, it gets depressing. But don't give up hope.

There are people out there who don't care about Jersey Shore- they just don't get the media attention.

@Mando By purchasing from Starbucks, you are supporting a cause you don't believe in. There's something called integrity, something that doesn't seem to exist anymore in this world of ignorance.

The OP is right. I'm 18 and I definitely feel like something is missing, not only in the world, but in our generation in particular. And it depressed me to think that hardly anyone else is aware of it... The globalization of every big American brand tells the rest of the world whats cool and what we should like. Its blinds us and this infuriates me.

In the holidays my cousins visited and all every evening they wanted to watch "jersey shore" and other programs like that. You have no idea how much it pissed me off. There is nothing more fake than "reality TV" :/

Same for me. Society really needs to open their eyes. (^_^)

Once i lived inside the bubble too, when i was 11 and i got some self awarenes and learned english ( not from school but from internet)....

My bubble popped and lost friends.

Now i know the real world

I'm 18 and a guy. I think the whole jersey shore thing is stupid, I'd rather watch Disney channel. And yes many people do not realize that we live in excess. I'm glad i do community service and that stuff. I will be doing mission trips soon too.
