Let me start off by saying that I'm an American rock fanatic from the beautiful city of Akron, OH. I can't get enough of rock music, I could listen to it from the crack o' dawn right up until sunset. Rock music is totally awesome.
Now you would think that as America is the best country in the world by far and it is fricking huge you would expect our music to be the best in the world, but no, sadly not.
That's right, they're all from BRITAIN, that tiny little island full of historical stuff and empty fields. It's so fricking annoying when I get into a new rock/metal band and find out they're British.
For example the newest addition to my rock band taste is a prog metal band called DragonForce (they're a little too heavy but good nonetheless), and I literally crossed my fingers when I looked them up, hoping they would be American. BUT NO! >:(
The only four American rock bands I really love are the Doors, Bread, Dream Theater and Aerosmith. The Beach Boys and Elvis aren't too bad though they're not diverse enough. Not really into Metallica either, although the Metallica self-titled album is good.
I'm just sick of having to put up with knwoing that those British snobs are forever the best at music. They never fail. They get all the glory, always. It should be us, America, we invented rock in the first place, and we are the best...
Is it normal to feel this way? I don't hate British rock music, of course not, I love it to bits, I just hate the fact that all the best music is from Britain and not America. America is so much better than Britain, and it's much bigger with many more big cities, but there's less good rock bands?!
The next time I find out a new rock or metal band I like is British I think I'm gonna tear out my hair.

We're not as dull as you think we are, and we outright deserve to lead the world in this kind of music, generally because we are just damn good at it.
Never heard of DragonForce, I'll give em a listen.
I would feel insulted as an American, like... hm that seems a bit racist.
I think it's AWESOME that people all around the world share music and entertainment with each other! I mean hot damn, a lot of the music and movies I like come from places other than the U.S. I dig on some British metal.
Oh and those Germans have some great music too. ;-)
I'm not just saying that because I'm German. Seriously.
Led zepplin
black sabbath
Venom
Electric wizard
All these bands helped metals evolution and are from britain lol.Dont worry though,we have the best death and thrash metal bands though ;)
P.S. Ignorance inserted for comic effect only. In my case, at least.
Just kidding.
In my experience (and I have lived in England), we Americans are even snobbier because we think we're better and deserve to be better than everyone else. We're nothing but obnoxiously arrogant arseholes that treat the world as our own.
Obviously, if all the groups you like are British there must be something that the people of England, Scotland, and Wales got that we don't. Accept it.
sorry to get so defensive but i really hate the way our country is portrayed but can't deny that most of the stereotypes are too true.
True it is the most powerful country and has a good economy but it has disadvantages such as ignorance, high gun crime and a high level of discrimination. I wouldn't say that it's better or worse than the UK or any part of Western Europe.
Britain is a fabulous country with fabulous music! This is coming from a "american" by the way! Get over yourself and get a life! Cheers!
1. How does Akron look beautiful? It looks like every other US city.
2. Why do some Americans still think we're snobs? WE ARE NOT, GTE IN YOUR HEAD, AMERICA!
3. "castles and empty fields" Jesus Christ, we're not that boring, we do have techology and a several good-looking cities.
4. British rock music is forever legendary. Live with it.
5. And don't be so patriotic, it makes you sound arrogant. The US has never been perfect.
