Is it normal to always sit with my legs up?

i meant eastern as in asia. where people tend to sit on the ground, but yeah, it hurts my knees if i don't sit on my legs.

Well, regardless, I'm not over there. LOL, I'm in Hawaii, but I am part Japanese. Although no one else in my family does this.
