Is it normal to be anxious and paranoid about everything?

I'm always on edge. I'm always in a constant state of anxiety. I don't even know what it feels like to be relaxed. I'm very jumpy and suspicious. If I hear a noise I flinch. I always feel like I'm being watched whether people are around or I'm alone. I'm afraid of the dark. I sleep with the lights on or I feel like something's about to get me or is watching me. (At least it's worse with the lights off.)

I took my dog out tonight and there was a stray dog outside but I couldn't really see it and I freaked out because I thought it looked like a chupacabra. Most of the time I think something is watching me though.

I'll be okay one minute but if something happens that I'm not expecting (It could just be a phone call or something small.) I act all crazy and irritable. I'll laugh about it later because I overreact all the time but I can't help it.

Last week when I was walking around a shopping plaza I thought these people were watching/following me and talking to someone telling them where I was. I'm always looking behind me thinking someone is there spying on what I'm doing but no one ever is.
