Is it normal to be attracted to asshole fictional characters?

Let's be clear: I absolutely hate assholes in real life.

But when it comes to fictional characters, I tend to crush on the jerks. Like, if they were a real person and I entered into a relationship with them (friendship or romantic), they'd probably end up being extremely abusive. Manipulating me, continually insulting me, restraining me against my wishes, kidnapping me, and hell, maybe even murdering me.

IRL: gross, gross, gross. stay away you freak.
Fictional: sooooooooooo hot. i love you.

Perhaps it's that someone fictional only has to satisfy you for as long as a fantasy lasts, so maybe you can put up with anything. You wouldn't want to live with it 24/7, though, so wouldn't choose it.

Although you may want to find someone who is nice but can pretend not to be. Gives you the best of both worlds.

Yeah, it is. Look at how many fans there are of Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter. His main character trait is that he's bigoted.
