Is it normal to be jealous of pet name turned nickname?

Is it normal I am jealous that the pet name I have for this person I love so much became a full-on well known nickname and everybody else uses it now? It kind of makes me feel not so special anymore :(

Cheer up, OP! :D You should feel extra special because you came up with something that a lot of people like! You'll always be #1 because you are the founder of it.

In summer of '06, I had a male friend that I absolutely adored. He was name was fairly short but I gave him a nickname anyway. He liked it and so all of our friends were calling him by it. It possibly upset me at the time, but I learned to accept it. It's the same on here, if we give someone one a nickname others might also follow suit with it. Nicknames are beneficial because they shorten things,etc.
It's normal to feel this way in both ends.

It should make you feel that much MORE special that so many people enjoyed it as much as you do, so much that they adopted it.

For example, I adore the user ...Space_Ghost? and I don't recall who named her "Spacey" but I think it's a cute name and much easier to write out than ...Space_Ghost?.

I hope I've not offended the creator of her nickname because I honestly really do like it. Thank you to whomever gave her that name, it's a good one. I didn't mean to steal your thunder.

Aww, I just searched my name and this story came up along with some others. I would've never seen it by going through post the way I usually do.

I understand that it's nice to have a nickname for someone that only you call them.
It gives the relationship a little more "cuteness"

Sadly it's really hard to come up with one, especially when you already have one that works.
So I guess you sadly have to live with it :(
But look on the bright side, as the other user said it makes it more special in a way

It's normal. You should feel good that you baptized the person with the nickname instead of being jealous.

My pet name here was turned into my nickname and later on turned into part of my username. Feel special.
