Is it normal to be really paranoid and anxious on Unisom? (benadryl)

Is it normal that im extremely paranoid and have extreme anxiety after taking 550mg of unisom(benadryl) ? its been 2 hours and i havnt hallucinated but i fell really heavy and dazed. Also ive been pacing A LOT.

No, Unisom is supposed to have a relaxing effect. That is why it is a sleep aid. Try reducing your dosage. If the anxiety persists, stop taking the medication and consider seeing your doctor.

not if you overdose, it actually does not cause "relaxing effects" 550 mg is overdose, the drug in unisom is diphenhydramine, which people have reported to hallucinate off 100-200 mg it is also a deliriant which is why you hallucinate and get paranoid. 500 is alot buddy and WILL NOT, help you relax in any sort of way!

I found a site once about people who got high using Benadryl. So with that high a dosage (550mg is a lot), it's no wonder that you're starting to freak.

Benedryl is dangerous. Don't take if you can help it. If you are trying to get high off of it, smoke weed instead.

Unisom isn't benadryl, silly. Unisom is a sleep aid, Benadryl is an anti-histamine. You goddamn kids, I tell ya.

I can't tell if you're serious, but Benadryl and Unisom are both diphenhydramine.

(Probably, at least. Apparently doxylamine, a similar drug, is also sold as Unisom.)

It sounds odd at first, but anti-histamines do usually have a "side effect" of drowsiness, so just change the packaging, and presto, it's not a side effect anymore. But presumably Unisom has side effect of relieving allergies.
