Is it normal to crave a painkiller after taking it for 10 days?

I was prescribed an opiate pain killer for my leg when it was in pain. I took it every six hours for about 10 days, and i would take it even if i wasn't in much pain because of the general happy/good feeling it gave me, and because it would take away my anxiety. So.. is it normal to still be wanting to take it and craving the effect? Would this be like becoming addicted? Thinking about it most of the day and wanting it? I've even thought of extreme measures to get it, like breaking a bone or seriously injuring myself on purpose.

Opiates are extremely addictive & you can become addicted very quickly.(I know from experience)

Same, I lived on highly scheduled prescription opiates for years. I couldn't function without them, but I lost years if my life as a "legal and medically sanctioned drug addict" that's my term for it anyway.
Getting of the bore me a new found respect for heroin users trying to kick their habit.

I use to be addicted to opiates but finally broke free of it after my friend OD on them.. He's still alive, luckily. We both recovered after it but you may want to consult you doctor. It can easily kill you and no one would want that to happen.

Be careful! It sounds like you could be forming a dependancy!

That shit's great, but if you're craving it, that means that it has already touched upon the correct addictive receptors in your brain and using it more would surely turn you into an addict.

I love that stuff, but it's never quite had that effect on me =/

Unfortunately they are addictive. This is bad for me seeing as I got my wisdom teeth taken out last week and I've been taking demerol and hydrocodine every three hours.
