Please tell me I am not the only one to find such ignorance utterly annoying...

My parents were "wifey" and "hubbles" in Valentines cards when I was a kid. Now they don't even use each other's forenames. It's just "you". It's more efficient, but is it really better or less ignorant?

Yep!

How is it ignorant? It's a nickname. Although some nicknames are annoying. I got dubbed "Mrs. Surnameypoo" and I don't like it much. But wifey isn't much better. And it sounds weird to call my husband by his actual name. It's usually babe, baby, love, pooks, sweetie, honey, etc.

I absolutely despise names like that.. Probably because I hate getting too close to someone emotionally. I also HATE the nickname honey. Something about it just raises goosebumps on my arms.

If I had a wife, I wouldn't call her wifey, nor would I like being called hubby. Heck, I'd settle for being called babycakes before hubby!

What makes the term "wifey" and "hubby" ignorant?

Do you just use the word ignorant to make yourself seem more intelligent than you actually are? Because I'd say that's more annoying than anyone saying "wifey" or "hubby".

I don't think I would call my significant other hubby directly, to me those terms are more of a label than necessarily nicknames. For example I wouldn't say "hubby can we go out" I would use that term to say "going out with my hubby" idk it seems like another overused word, it gets annoying hah
