Is it normal to expect the unexpected to be expected?

Whenever I ask someone (a close relative or a friend) a favor then gives me a "yes" or "ok" answer, I usually expect something in favor of my request even though they say it without certainty. I am aware with this "Expect the unexpected" but I think it's also hard to admit that I'm still expecting something even just a bit. When it turns out that my favor wasn't granted and hear "Sorry, hope you understand", I feel quite awful.

So, anyone here experiencing the same?

It's because you are a good person and would do it for them, otherwise you wouldn't hope for help, right. You're normal for feeling let down, I would too.

I try to expect as little as possible (Unless it was a promise) so that if whatever it was i would be even more suprised and if i didnt i would not care to much...

Yes that's normal. I always expect the worst possible outcome, so when its not, I feel quite gratified
