Is it normal to feel guilty about being raped?
Just finding this site, I had a specific question, so I got an account just for it.
A few weeks ago, I was going over to my neighbors house because I forgot my keys. It was my only choice since I didn't have a cell phone, and my other neighbors weren't home. So, I rang the door bell, and he let me in. His name is John, a guy in his late 20's, generally nice to be around, whenever my parents have him visit. So, I explained that I forgot my keys, and that I needed to borrow the spare key that he keeps for us. He led me through the door that I thought was to the kitchen. It wasn't. It went down stairs, straight into the basement.
He pushed me down the stairs, and pinned me to the ground. John tore my shirt and my bra off and took off my pants. Then he took off his pants and raped me. It seemed like hours until he stopped, and John grabbed my throat and said "You tell a single person, and you wont ever see another human being in your life again except for me." Then he unlocked the basement door that went outside and threw my clothes on the grass. I went out and put my pants on with my bra, but my shirt was torn so I didn't bother with it. I went back over to my house and used a tree branch to break through the back door. My parents think that some kid just threw a rock at the door. I never told my parents a word. I hope to god John doesn't ever find out about this.
I feel like it is my fault for being raped. I should have suspected something like this might have happened, since he was always saying stuff when he came to visit like "What a lovely daughter you have. I bet she gets any guy she wants." I'm only thirteen so I never thought it would happen to me.
