My teacher back in 7th grade had cockroaches and she said she let them crawl/sleep on her when she watched TV. makes me cringe.

Anyway it's normal, but insects don't get into my house often so I don't worry too much. Has your house ever been infested with cockroaches? If not, you shouldn't worry that much.
