You're normal.
Not everyone is comfortable with flattery. You always have to question the person's motives for complimenting you. Is it a true compliment or do they want something from you.

If they are your closest friends, then their compliments are most likely sincere.

Your friends try to boost your self esteem and you hate them for it? Seriously? Honestly just take the compliment and get over it.

Why the hell is that women nowadays can't take an effing compliment nowadays? Do you think every guy you talk to is trying to get into your pants? Believe it or not there are some people on this planet who actually want to make others feel good about themsevles. But no, compliments are weird and most girls can't just accept them. I bet that you also hate it when guys are chivalrous and open doors for you? If you don't want your friends to compliment you then just stop hanging out with them. Problem solved.

I don't like it either, I don't mind getting complimented, but I have a friend who fishes for comments all the time. I'm the type to compliment if I really mean it. So I know what you mean
