People enjoy hating because it gives them purpose and meaning in life and draws attention away from their own setbacks and shortcomings. Take a look at all the haters in the world and they share a common bond, it's called paranoia and relishing the role of victim.

Why not hate when it puts blame on others and frees us of responsibility. When you grow up, have responsibilities, your focus will be on your life and the hate will subside and eventually go away. Life works that way.

I've a number of things to say to you.

First I'm Irish myself (born and raised in Ireland), so I understand your mentality; though I do not ascribe to it.

Most important to note is that Catholics are not an ethnic group or race - therefore it is impossible to be racist towards them. You obviously mean religious prejudice (or bigotry). The fact that the majority of Irish citizens are Catholic is merely incidental.
What was done by the English was done a long time ago. You really must have a hard neck to keep up that kind of hatred. Times change and people move on.

As for Americans...that is one of my pet hates. I would imagine they see the romanticised image or Ireland and, wanting to attach themselves to that, claim this status of being 'Irish-American'.

The is a difference.
What went on in America was a 270 year long holocaust whereas the Irish were just getting completely screwed over.
They continued to live.

The fact that most of the native americans are dead doesn't give any right.

I'm Icelandic, Icelanders are roughly 25% Irish and 75% Norwegian by descent.
