Is it normal to have an extremely small variety of clothing?

I am now in sixth form, which means there is no longer any uniform. This means we now go into school in our own clothes. Fashion has never, ever interested me. As a result of this, I have two pairs of trousers, three T-shirts and one navy hooded sweatshirt. My friends come into school with the latest fashion, which makes Ben and Joel look like the gay cowboys out of brokeback mountain.
I wear near enough the same thing everyday, should I go out and buy more clothes? Or at the very least, wash my clothes more than once a year?

Wear what you like, but yes, you should probably wash your clothes more than once per year.

Advice on how to keep up appearances, by and for someone who doesn't really care about fashion:

I will have at least 5 different looking shirts and trousers so that I don't get seen in the same clothes on two days in the same week.
I also swap around the order, so I don't wear the same thing on two consecutive Mondays for example.
I may wear plain black trousers or jeans for two days, since there's no way to tell they're the same since they're so common (standard look) that it's expected to have multiple pairs. Just inspect them first to ensure that there is no visible dirt.
I dress casually when at home or when out with friends, and smart-casual to class or to go out with someone that I'm interested in.

I was like that, and last summer I started updating my wardrobe. I'm constantly trying to find my own clothing style
