Is it normal to have this scary dream over and over?

Well it always starts out that I'm in my house and it is daytime. My family is gone for some reason, and I'm all by myself. I remember going into the bathroom, and then all of a sudden the lights would all burn out at the same time, because my bathroom has 4 lights at a time burning. So I think nothing of it, and try to see if there are any replacement bulbs...there aren't any. Over the course of the day the rest of the house's lights all burn out, one by one. It's soon night time, and it's pitch black, as if I don't have any windows in my house either. This dream is really starting to creep me out, because I've had it atleast 2 times, maybe 3, including last night of me dreaming it again too. I don't ever encounter any monsters or anything like that. It makes me scared, because I don't know when the lights will burn out, and what if I'm taking a shower, then it happens, and I slip and hit my head trying to get out...

Sounds creepy. You can try looking into lucid dreaming techniques. Recurring dreams are normal, and you can use your familiarity with this dream to assign yourself a dream sign (probably a light burning out). The basic idea is that when you see your dream sign, it will remind you to perform a reality check, and you will realize you're dreaming. Then you can control the dream however you want, even simply stop this one.

Reading up on lucid dreaming is a good idea. The technique I use is counting. I count my fingers every time something seems like it might be amiss, as well as periodically throughout the day. When I'm dreaming there are just… so many fingers. Too many.

I think it's pretty normal. I used to have a reoccurring nightmare about getting stuck in a maze. Over time it eventually went away. I agree with looking into lucid dreaming techniques. If I can tell I'm dreaming then things aren't scary anymore. Good luck!

Dreams are simply our mind displaying what we've been telling it in our conscience and subconscience. I had a recurring nightmare that involved getting in vicious fights with my dad. Well, in my subconcious i freaking hate that man and wish i could kill him, so these such things happen in my dreams.
I'd say you have a fear of the lights going out or something, that if you confront in your real life, will solve itself in your dreams. You probably think of it when you're in the shower specifically and are like, i hope the lights don't go out. Then you dream about it. So face your fear, and shower with the lights out a few times just to see how harmless it is, and see if your dreams get better :)

It is fairly normal, depending on what your thinking of while dozing off. I find that if you wale up in the middle of the night while having the dream, you turn on a lamp or light, watch some youtube videos on your phone or read a good book, and then about after half an hour, get ready for bed again. It depends on you whether or not you want to keep the light on in your room or not while you sleep.

A recurring dream is like the phone constantly ringing, but you, not picking up. This dream has several levels: 1) feeing that you family is keeping secrets from you, "being in the dark" 2) I would guess there're 4 of them 3) there's also a physical component, like fainting spells. Try these on for size.

Once I had a horrible nightmare that involved green goo, my dad, paper eyes, pregnancy, cages, and a small modified piece of an evanescence song. I couldn't say it without almost crying. After I listened to the whole Evanescence song (my immortal) I got over it. Just focus on one point of the dream and try to experience it. Then you'll see that it isn't scary at all.
