Well, I'm not sure what he was like beforehand, but the fact that you left him for someone else and people tell you that you can do better, paired with the fact he hasn't changed, suggests that you may have an unhealthy relationship. Some things are best left alone. If you believe that you can have a happy, stable relationship with him, then go for it.
