I agree it is very painfull after an animal you have loved dies. Soon you will relize that you will want another fluffball in your life. I'm sorry about your cat. :(

I'm sorry for your loss. After my dog died, I still don't want another. It just seems as if I would be attempting in vain to replace what was a very unique and special relationship. I can sympathize. I hope that one day, you will choose to honor your friend's memory by providing a loving home to another cat as I hope to do for my friend.

I feel exactly the same way, too. My mom even said the same thing: If she got another cat, she would feel like she would be betraying Sister, and I agreed with her on that. I kinda feel the same way, too, just like her. And she said although it would not be that way, she would feel like it was.

Speaking of which, you should go check out my blog about IIN that I want my cat Sister back so you can see how I feel! I believe we both can relate to this!

Of course there is and thank you for your comment. I appreciate it. And do you say that also because there are some people out there who don't care if your pet is dead?

Sweetheart. I really feel for you,I rememeber being 7 years old and losing my adored hamster "Whiskey" He was my best friend. (Just like your cat was to you I don't doubt) I've never cried so much u know sobbing to the point where I couldn't speak. I can still feel the heartache now and I really thought my heart would break into a million pieces. I'd never say get another cat as you need all your time to grieve for your beloved best friend. Another cat will not be the same as him/her, but please don't rule it out all together as having another gorgeous little kitten to love and care and recieve that feeling of unconditional love and non judgementalness that you recieved from your beloved lost cat may be just the tonic you need, and it wouldn't be a replacement for your lost cat as life is so precious be it an animal or a human that it can't be replaced. Hope you don't mind me asking what was your cat's name. xxx

I felt the same way, too, when my cat Sister died. I cried so much, my glasses would get all steamed up with tears, I couldn't really speak much either (my voice was all shaky), and I felt like my heart was ripped out and crushed in 1 billion pieces. I could not believe it at all. I even told my mom on that same horrible day on January 2, 2012 when my cat died. I still think about her and still get sad, and I even say to myself I hope she'll come back. Only because sometimes, I feel like asking my mom, "How do you expect me to get over this? Especially after it just happened on that one day?", although I have recovered some.

It's normal to not want another cat. You don't have to buy or get another one until you're fully healed from the previous one you had. It's too early for another one to fill that special place in your heart.

I'm very sorry for your lost.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know how difficult it can be.

When my pets have died, I've needed to grieve for them (and felt it was right to). You might feel differently in a year's time when you started to come to terms with your loss.

Of course its normal.. It may not feel like it but you will heal and maybe eventually you'll want another kitty. I would be the same way once my babies go.. I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm sooo sorry for your loss.
My last kitty died 3 months ago. I still feel him around. I still think I see him. Sometimes my arms ache to hold him. It sucks. He was a great kitty as yours must have been. I'm still not ready yet for another cat. I still kept his food bowls and cat carrier.
But maybe someday you will get another sweet kitty. It won't replace the specialness you had with your kitty, just make another unique special part in your heart.
I hope you feel better.

sorry for your loss, One of my cats that I've had since i was a kid died a few years ago so I know how you feel.
definetly norma but it diden't happen to me, mabe because I had (still have him)another cat.
it's kinda strange, it's a bit like you have brocken up afther a long relationship and you say "I never whant to love again" or "I will never recover" trust me you will.

Years ago I lost my kitty and didn't get another cat for 3 yrs . You'll be ready for another kitty if and when your ready . Also remember sometimes kitties chose us , so when the time is right a special cat may turn up in your life in a unusual way . Good luck

I'm really sorry about your cat. You might want another cat eventually, but it's normal not to want another one right away. These things take time.

Of course this is normal you had an attachment to your kitty, a bond with your kitty, and your kitty had a bond with you. This is a really normal reaction and of course another kitty won't replace that bond no kitty will ever replace that bond and you know that deep down. Doesn't mean you can't love another kitty, it just means the connection is different. :)
My kitty of 13 yrs just disappeared without a trace, so I'm assuming he found a peaceful happy place to enjoy his final moments in. I feel your struggles. Really, I do.
