Or I may have found the cure to cancer and didn't even know it.

I think people took the question wrong. They see immune and think only of the body's immune system. There was other forms of immunity implied, I used the words tolerance and accustom also. I put poison in quotes to show I mean something toxic that ranges from the naturally toxic to chemically toxic through the psychologically toxic (scary, I mean in this instance) and anything in between or any combination of toxicity (scary AND physically toxic, for example).

Expose doesn't mean consume, all the time. At my job I am exposed to molten hot stuff and get burnt a lot and I am used to it and don't flinch like most people would. That doesn't mean I consume fire, it falls on me, it's all around me everywhere, I am EXPOSED to it. I have conquered fire and burns psychologically as I do not fear it and can perform in danger. No, I don't think I can burn to a crisp and live, let me clarify, I just mean I can perform well and make good decisions and not panic around fire. No, I don't think you can become immune to smoke physically. Come on. I also research things before exposing myself to them if possible (meaning I can't research exactly what bacteria I may be exposing myself to SOMETIMES because I can't fucking see it or whatever). I wouldn't consume a chemical for no benefit, that's just dumb. We know that some things are deadly period, so obviously I don't bother with those things. I'm not going to eat arsenic, I think that's been thoroughly tested to my satisfaction, I see no benefit in trying to 'beat' arsenic. I did however breathe in a bit of zinc vapor, to know the smell, taste and feeling. I find things like that handy to know.

Contrary to what you may have gathered from your poor understanding of my post (whether that's my fault or yours), I am not a retard. I thought it was implied, and common sense that I only did such things if there was a benefit. I see physical and psychological strength as a benefit, if I can gain more and more of it I will. This is just one way I do it. I also value my leadership abilities in a crisis, and feel well-prepared for many emergency situations. If that's a bad thing, then OK. If there wasn't people like me willing to risk their ass for others then that would suck.

I'll say it again.

That's pretty dumb.

Exposure to toxic chemicals causes cancer. Do you think that people that worked with asbestos or lived in homes with asbestos CONSUMED the asbestos? You don't have to literally consume something for it to enter your body. If that were the case, then cancer would only be an issue for people who consume raw materials and smoke. You think people who get cancer from sun exposure or radiation consumed it?

"I personally think it's great to "poison" oneself with exposure an array of substances, from bacteria to smoke to venom and so on. " ("exposure an array of substances"? You're giving me shit about my reading comprehension skills but you're writing isn't exactly A+ material, pal).
"I try to poison myself to some extent multiple times a day. I have not been sick in so long I can't even remember it!! Everyone around me is so sickly and fearful but not me."
You said you're trying to poisen yourself. Now you're saying that you know that poisening yourself is pointless because there are some things you can't be immune to.

And there you were above hand talking about my reading comprehension skills. That is what you said. "I try to poisen myself..." ""I personally think it's great to "poison" oneself with exposure an array of substances, from bacteria to smoke to venom and so on. ". And now you're saying "no no no, I only EXPOSE myself, I am not stupid enough to feed myself things that I could never be immune to". Because "poisening" yourself with venom and toxic chemicals is not the same thing as feeding yourself something that you're not immune to.

Come on, guy.
And I will say it only one more time.
Self-desensitization is a futile effort, especially the way you're doing it.

Yes, exactly, expose has several meanings. If only you could've realized that at first! Eat, touch, smell, see, all that jazz.

I already explained, "poison" meant physically AND psychologically. I failed to make that crystal clear in the original post, and I take responsibility for that. However I DID explain it in the reply so, alrighty then.

Right, I said sickly AND fearful....meaning sickly AND fearful. Physically sickly (ill a lot) and FEARFUL meaning a psychological weakness or "illness", if you will.

But no matter how much you try to make yourself psychologically immune to it, physically is a different story. If you knew jack shit about psychology you would know that physical threats against your life provoke a response in your nervous system, something that, unless you were a SEAL, a seasoned Marine, or another rescue worker that has endured years of psychological training, you have little to no control over. This isn't the kind of shit you learn on your own.

That's the key word. TRAINING. Not simply exposure but TRAINING. DISCIPLINE. Simple exposure to it is not enough, you must be taught and disciplined over the course of many years. And some people don't even require training to get their nervous system to such a low level of arousal.

I keep trying to tell you that simple self-desensitization won't help you when the real deal comes along. If only you could have realized that! You can shove candles up your ass all night long but if you ever get raped in the ass, you damn sure won't be acting like "good thing I shoved those candles up my ass or this would scare the fuck out of me!".

I agree that some simple self-desensitization doesn't do any (or much) good. I never mentioned my methods or training though. I am not a retard. I am a veteran of the Army and I work and volunteer in dangerous fields.. I DO know what I'm doing. Forgive me for not being more descriptive, I did not think people would go the direction they went with my post. I didn't think my methods or integrity would come under fire, nor should they have, honestly. I didn't think I'd have to detail every little thing I do. All I wanted to accomplish was to see who else was out there like me, and what keeps the rest of you guys who aren't like me from experimenting or getting involved. That's it!!

You can't assume that we would all just know what you're talking about from what little details you gave us. And I did not question your integrity. You poorly stated your point and attacked my reading comprehension skills despite that. And no, you don't have to detail every little thing you do. But telling us that you want to poisen yourself for shits and giggles is far from the necessary amount if detail. Rethink your method of arguing before you attack my intelligence.
