Is it normal to pretend to be a book character?

Ever since I was about 13, I would finish a book and not be completely satisfied with the ending. I would find myself sitting up late at night pretending I was that character, and making up an "extension" to what I'd read. Not like dressing up like them, it was all in my mind. I would make up new scenarios and turn situations like my persona was doing them instead of myself. I still do it. But I'm 19 now, and I am a little busier, but I still pretend when I'm at work, or lying in bed. I have a few different people, but I stick to one, usually. Am I abnormal?

I think it's perfectly normal. Why shouldn't we aspire to be something greater than reality?

I think this is fairly normal. I usually read books where the main character is an extension of myself but with a different life, so it is very easy for me to be vicarious and live their life. However, there are some scenes that I simply cannot imagine playing in my head. I remember that I read this very engaging modern novel called "The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and GothGirl." I have to say that I completely empathized with Fanboy and by the end of the novel I was completely jealous of him.

IIN that I did the same thing?

What I did was re-create the Bible. I made it all so believable.

...and then I woke up.

Normal. Imagination is an awesome thing.
