Is it normal to see things that aren't there

It happens all the Tim e I see thing things in my pereferral vision then when I look there is nothing there like when I was at a friends house and I was waiting for her to come outside so we could go out when she finally came out I saw her cat run out the door I jumped out of the car told her. She just looked at me all confused ways and told me she doesn't have a cat. Another time is when I was sitting in the car in the parking lot waiting for some one to come out the shop when I saw a shiny blue car park beside me when I looked there was nothing there, and it's not that I just see things either I hear things like specific voices calling my name like people I know when there is no one around, I hear footsteps and car alarms. There nothing there. Also I feel paraoid all the time like I am being watched like every time I look away from some one in my pereferral vision it looks like every one is staring at me but then I look no one is is it just me??
