I remember just after my 13th birthday I was sleeping in the caravan and spent most of the night staring out the window trying to spot ufo's. I ended up seeing something like what you described, triangular with each point looking like a star, and it seemed to be shining a beam in different directions before moving slightly in that direction. I still doubt that I actually saw a ufo (I believed it back then) because as we both admitted, we were both looking for something, so our minds just gave us what we wanted to see.
