Is it normal to think about jogging like this?

I jog every other day for 30 min. I'm a beginner, so I can't really run for 30 min straight. I'm doing it to lose weight & feel better about myself. However, when I run I feel like it doesn't really feel like exersise. It's like I'm just doing it. I dont how to really describe it. I know I'm not going to see any effects for some time, but the whole running idea doesn't really seem like exersise. I don't FEEL like I'm burning the calories, as I should put it. Is this normal? If it makes sense.

Do you enjoy running? I LOVE rollerblading so it doesn't feel like exersize to me, but rollerblading burns more calories in 20 minutes then doing high impact aerobics for an hour. I guess my point is that I enjoys rollerblading so it doesn't seem like exersize to me maybe that's what running is for you.

I do enjoy it, I just don't feel like I'll see results for doing it.

I know what you mean....you're probably not getting your heart rate up high enough. If you've worked hard you should be out of breath by the time you get home. Try increasing how long you work out for. I used to try run next to a really busy road so I'd be less inclined to slow down and walk because everyone would see! Haha. Another option is to try going to the gym and selecting a cardio work out option on the treadmill.

Yeah you only progress by pushing your limits. To make running harder I run during the hottest time of the day. If you want fast results run in a sweater that's what my friend does. We're getting ready for USAF bmt in texas. running is not enjoyable you do it because you have to.

Running at the hottest time of the day and/or in a sweater is stupid! Don't do it unless you want to totally dehydrate yourself and pass out. All you lose is water weight and you gain it right back as soon as you take a drink. If you like running but don't feel challenged try to go faster or longer. Try to incorporate hills and sprints. If you don't "feel" like you're exercising after that, you should try out for the olympics. Haha.

I've recently started jogging myself and I too feel as I'm doing something wrong or not jogging

You don't feel like it's exercise because you're not doing more than 30 minutes and you're probably not going very fast either, being a beginnner. But even experienced runners sometimes get the feeling that they're just "plodding along." It's like that for me on some mornings during my first mile, just clomp-clomp-clomp, feeling annoyed by it. But then I loosen up and the run becomes easier and more fun and I'm able to knock off the miles. So, stick with running, if you feel there's potential for you to enjoy it. It will help you in the long run (no pun intended). It will eventually get you lean and help you to stay that way. You might even become addicted to it (happens to a lot of runners)!

Have an MP3 IN ONE EAR playing some upbeat music to get you going and push you harder.

I suggest only having it in one ear in case you have to cross any roads.
